When to Replace Your Child’s Toothbrush

Posted .

Do you ever wonder when it’s best to replace your child’s cute, dinosaur toothbrush? If so, our Smiles Unlimited team is more than happy to give you the tips you need! You need to replace your child’s toothbrush at the same times when adults need to replace their toothbrushes. You should replace it:

-After 3-4 months: After your child has used their brush for 3-4 months, the brush is no longer effective at removing plaque from the teeth and gums. The brush might also harbor germs and bacteria that can harm your child’s health. So, make sure to replace the brush after 3-4 months.

-When the bristles are frayed: If the bristles are worn out or frayed, it’s best to replace the brush. The bristles are the most important part of the toothbrush, and if they aren’t in tip-top condition, they won’t properly clean the smile and they might even harm the gums.

-After they’ve been sick: It’s very important to replace your child’s toothbrush after they have been sick. This is vital because the bacteria from the sickness tend to cling to the brush and live there, which will increase the chances of your child getting sick again.
